Charity Walk in Kilkenny to Honor Late Mother’s Memory, Urgent Need for Awareness

URGENT UPDATE: A charity walk honoring the late Aislinn Nelson Comerford will take place at 2 PM on September 6, 2024, in Kilkenny Countryside Park. The event aims to raise awareness about the dangers of thrombosis, a silent killer that tragically claimed Aislinn’s life at just 34 years old due to a sudden pulmonary embolism.
Aislinn, who passed away in July of last year, is survived by her 10-month-old son and a husband she had married only three months prior to her untimely death. Her family is determined to honor her memory by educating others about the risks associated with thrombosis, particularly for young mothers.
Thrombosis can strike without warning, and many people are unaware of the symptoms until it’s too late. It is especially dangerous for pregnant and postpartum women, who face a heightened risk of developing blood clots. In fact, research indicates that these women can be up to 60 times more likely to experience such events. In Ireland, one in every 1,000 new mothers will encounter a thrombosis event.
The charity walk is part of a larger initiative to empower individuals with knowledge about identifying thrombosis symptoms and seeking urgent care. The family has also launched an online fundraiser that has already raised over €4,000, significantly surpassing its original target of €1,000. Donations are still being accepted, and supporters can contribute at [JustGiving Link](https://www.justgiving.com/page/aislinn-stepforward-1?utm_medium=FR&utm_source=EM).
Aislinn’s family is committed to ensuring her story leads to actionable change, aiming to save lives through awareness. The upcoming charity walk is not just an event; it represents a movement to inform and protect others from the devastating effects of thrombosis.
Join the effort to honor Aislinn and help raise vital awareness. Every step taken on September 6 will contribute to a greater understanding of this silent threat, potentially saving lives in the process.
Stay tuned for further updates as the event approaches. Share this with friends and family to spread the word about this important cause!
