€118K Seized from Crime Funds Urgent Community Projects in Galway
UPDATE: A significant allocation of €118,000 seized from crime proceeds is set to fund two vital community projects in Galway City. This urgent development was confirmed today as part of ongoing efforts to support local initiatives that aid vulnerable populations.
Of the total amount, over €97,000 will bolster drug and alcohol recovery services in Galway, managed by the Western Region Drug and Alcohol Taskforce. This funding comes at a crucial time, as addiction recovery support is more essential than ever for the community.
Additionally, €21,000 has been awarded to SCCUL Enterprises in Ballybane for the community project known as “Canvas for Change.” This initiative aims to promote social inclusion and personal development through creative expression, making a direct impact on individuals in need.
Nationally, Ireland has allocated over €4 million to various organizations that focus on supporting vulnerable individuals. This commitment underscores the government’s prioritization of community welfare and rehabilitation efforts.
John Connolly, a Galway West Fianna Fail TD, stated, “This is money well spent. Supporting recovery services and community projects is essential for building a healthier society.” His remarks highlight the positive impact these funds are expected to have on individuals and families in Galway.
As this story unfolds, residents are encouraged to engage with these community projects and participate in recovery initiatives. The allocation of these funds marks a significant step toward improving the lives of many in Galway City.
Stay tuned for more updates on how these projects will evolve and the difference they will make in the community.
