Farmers Urged to Attend Free Health Checks in Limerick This Month

URGENT UPDATE: Farmers in Limerick are invited to take advantage of free health checks in the coming days, with events scheduled at Sixmilebridge Mart on August 14 and Kilmallock Mart on August 18. This initiative, part of the Farmer Health Check programme, is coordinated by the Irish Farmers’ Association (IFA) and Croí, and is fully funded by the Department of Agriculture.
The mobile health service aims to provide farmers and their families with essential health assessments, focusing on critical areas such as heart disease risk, early detection of diabetes, mental health, and cancer awareness. Participants will receive tailored advice and information on local support services available, ensuring they can easily access vital health resources directly within their communities.
Darren Sheehy, the Limerick/Clare IFA Regional Executive, emphasizes the dual purpose of these events. “Not only do we aim to improve health outcomes, but we also create a social space for farmers to connect and share conversations as summer approaches its end,” he stated.
These health checks are designed to be quick and comprehensive, offering farmers a valuable opportunity to understand their health better and mitigate potential risks. The initiative reflects a growing recognition of the unique challenges that farmers face regarding their health and well-being.
Don’t miss this opportunity for essential health insights! For more information on the health check programme and to stay updated, visit www.ifa.ie/healthcheck/.
Act now—make your health a priority! Share this news with fellow farmers to ensure everyone gets involved.
