UPDATE: The highly anticipated annual ‘Hurling for Cancer Research’ charity game, hosted by Jim Bolger and Davy Russell, is set to take place on Monday, August 18, at Netwatch Cullen Park in Carlow, starting at 7:30 PM. This event promises to be a star-studded affair, featuring top hurling talents such as TJ Reid, Patrick Horgan, Lee Chin, and more, all rallying for a noble cause.

Over the past 14 years, this charity initiative has raised an impressive €1.66 million for life-saving cancer research, and this year aims to contribute even more. The game will be broadcast live on TG4, ensuring fans can witness the excitement unfold from home.

The event will showcase not only hurling stars but also prominent figures from the world of racing and other sports, including Niall Quinn and Rachel Blackmore. The teams will be managed by renowned coaches: Bolger’s All Stars will be led by John Kiely and Liam Griffin, while Russell’s Best is coached by Brian Cody and Liam Cahill.

A host of sports figures are stepping up as selectors, commentators, and officials, including Paudie Clifford, Marty Morrissey, and Anthony Daly. With a lineup of notable participants, the atmosphere promises to be electric.

Gates at Netwatch Cullen Park will open at 5:00 PM, featuring pre-match entertainment and refreshments ahead of the throw-in. Free parking is available for all attendees. Tickets are priced at €10 for adults and €5 for children, available at selected Centra and SuperValu GAA ticket agent stores, as well as online at www.hurlingforcancer.ie.

In addition, exclusive ‘Hurling for Cancer Research’ kits can be purchased for €50, with 10% of the proceeds going directly to the charity.
