UPDATE: A third suspect has been arrested in connection with the tragic fatal assault of Barry Daly, a 44-year-old father-of-four, in Cork over the weekend. The attack occurred outside his home in Doneraile during the early hours of October 12, 2025.

Emergency services responded to the scene shortly before 2 AM, but despite attempts to revive him, Barry was pronounced dead at the location. Investigators have confirmed that he suffered significant head injuries during the assault.

The shocking incident took place at Rockview Terrace, where authorities cordoned off the area as part of their ongoing investigation. A second location within the grounds of Doneraile Park was also sealed off overnight.

Authorities are probing the possibility that the assault followed an earlier argument at a nearby pub, leading to Barry being pursued and attacked. Gardaí have not ruled out the use of a weapon in inflicting the severe injuries.

Shortly after the incident, Gardaí arrested two men on October 13, 2025, with the third suspect, a juvenile in his teens, currently in custody at a Garda station in Co. Cork.

A Garda spokesperson stated, “Gardaí continue to investigate all circumstances surrounding the death of the man. The results of the post-mortem examination are not being released for operational reasons.”

The investigation team has established an incident room at Mallow Garda Station and assigned a family liaison officer to assist Barry’s family during this difficult time.

Investigators are appealing for witnesses, urging anyone with information or camera footage from Doneraile village between midnight and 2 AM on October 12 to come forward.

This tragic event has shocked the local community and raises urgent questions about safety and violence. As the investigation unfolds, the impact on Barry’s family and the wider community remains profound.
