Toddler Theo McEnroe, 2, tragically killed in Dublin incident
UPDATE: Heartbreaking news has emerged following the tragic death of toddler Theo McEnroe, who was killed in a road traffic incident near his home in Jobstown, Dublin, on October 7, 2025. The incident occurred around 2 PM as the young boy, believed to be under two years old, was struck by a vehicle.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, but despite their efforts, Theo was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at Children’s Health Ireland at Crumlin. His devastated parents, Ciara and Shane, were present during this tragic event that has left the community in mourning.
Shane took to social media, expressing his grief with a poignant message: “My son you are my world my boy. I’ll forever love you son I love you so much this feels like a bad dream.” The post has garnered hundreds of heartfelt responses, with friends and family offering their condolences, saying, “I’ve no words my heart’s broken for you,” and “My heart is shattered for you Shane & Ciara & the girls, life is just not fair! Rest easy beautiful boy you will be greatly missed beyond words.”
A candlelit vigil is scheduled for this evening, where community members are invited to come together at the family’s home in Rathmintin to “light up the sky for beautiful Theo.” This gathering reflects the profound sense of loss felt by those who knew the family and the young boy.
“Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a fatal road traffic incident outside a residence in Rathmintin, Jobstown, Dublin 24 that occurred at approximately 2 PM this afternoon,”
stated a representative from Gardaí. A Family Liaison Officer has been appointed to support the grieving family during this incredibly difficult time.
Funeral arrangements have been confirmed. Theo will be reposing at O’Dwyer & Sons on Friday from 2 PM to 6 PM for family and friends. His funeral service will take place on Saturday, October 11, at 10 AM in Saint Thomas’ Church, followed by burial at Newland’s Cross.
