Urgent Review of Convoy Roadworks Needed After Safety Concerns
UPDATE: Donegal County Council is facing urgent calls to review newly completed roadworks in Convoy, following serious safety concerns raised by local officials. Just completed, these roadworks, which cost €95,000, have made navigating the area hazardous for both motorists and pedestrians.
Councillor Gary Doherty has voiced alarm over the dangerous traffic conditions, particularly around the local national school and nearby estates. He warns that the current layout forces vehicles into precarious maneuvers that could lead to catastrophic accidents if immediate action is not taken.
Residents and parents are especially concerned about the safety of children accessing the national school. “The way traffic is being forced to maneuver is an accident waiting to happen,” Doherty stated. His urgent plea for the council to reassess the design of the roadworks comes as the community seeks a swift solution to improve safety.
Authorities confirm that the council is reviewing the situation, but no timeline for changes has been announced. The local community is rallying for immediate intervention to ensure safety is restored in the area.
As this situation develops, residents are urged to stay informed and advocate for necessary adjustments. The urgency of this issue highlights the critical intersection of infrastructure and public safety, pressing local officials to act decisively.
