Urgent Road Safety Works Start Tomorrow Between Raphoe and Convoy
UPDATE: Urgent road safety works are set to commence tomorrow, October 15, 2025, on the crucial route between Raphoe and Convoy. This initiative, welcomed by local officials, aims to enhance safety for all road users.
Councillor Patrick McGowan, Cathaoirleach of the Lifford Stranorlar Municipal District, announced the allocation of €170,000 for the construction of a crash barrier on the R236 Burnside Scheme. The works are expected to be completed by October 31, 2025, marking a significant step towards improving road safety in the area.
The decision to undertake these works comes in response to longstanding community concerns regarding traffic safety. With increasing traffic volumes, the construction of this crash barrier is seen as a vital measure to prevent accidents and protect lives.
Residents and commuters are urged to be aware of possible disruptions as the construction progresses. Local authorities have assured that efforts will be made to minimize inconvenience during the works.
As the project begins, community leaders emphasize the importance of these improvements for the safety of families and individuals who travel this route daily. The local population is encouraged to stay informed about the project’s status and any related updates.
Stay tuned for further developments as this important safety initiative unfolds.
