Urgent Works Begin on New Connemara Ambulance Base Today

UPDATE: Construction has officially commenced on the new Connemara ambulance base in Recess, marking a critical milestone for local emergency services. This long-awaited development follows a campaign spanning two decades and aims to enhance healthcare response in the region.
The Health Service Executive (HSE) first announced plans for the facility in 2021, but delays have plagued the project until now. The works will convert the existing single-storey health center into a fully operational ambulance base, featuring two bays for ambulance parking and two additional car parking spaces.
The construction is being carried out by a local contractor and is expected to take approximately six months to complete. This development is not just a structural enhancement; it holds immense significance for the local community. Speaking to Galway Talks, PJ Leavy from the Connemara Ambulance Crisis Group emphasized the project’s importance, stating it represents a significant step forward in improving emergency medical services in the area.
This urgent update highlights the growing need for reliable ambulance services in Connemara, a region known for its vast landscapes and remote communities. The new base is anticipated to drastically reduce response times and potentially save lives in emergencies.
As construction progresses, local residents eagerly await the completion of the base, which they hope will bolster the region’s healthcare infrastructure. The next phase will focus on advancing the build in line with the projected timeline, ensuring that the facility is operational as soon as possible.
Stay tuned for further updates as this story develops and the new ambulance base takes shape, promising to enhance emergency preparedness in Connemara.
