Weekend Disruptions: Luas and Dart Services Halted in Dublin
URGENT UPDATE: Dublin commuters are facing significant disruptions this weekend as both Luas and Dart services will be halted due to essential engineering works. Starting Saturday, October 28, 2023, and continuing through Sunday, October 29, 2023, travelers should prepare for altered transportation plans.
On the Luas Red Line, there will be no service between Tallaght/Saggart and Red Cow as vital rail replacement works are conducted at Belgard Stop and the Belgard Road crossing. Replacement buses will operate every 15 minutes between affected stops, but note that these buses will not stop at Citywest Campus. Passengers are advised to use Fortunestown instead. Normal tram services will continue running between Red Cow and Connolly.
In addition, Dart services will be suspended between Grand Canal Dock and Greystones over the weekend as Irish Rail conducts essential track works. Trains will only operate between Malahide/Howth and Grand Canal Dock, with Dublin Bus accepting valid rail tickets on routes serving the closed stations.
It is important to note that Luas Red Line services between Connolly and The Point remain out of action for several weeks due to fire damage in the Docklands. A replacement bus is currently in place for this segment. However, Luas Green Line services are unaffected and will operate as normal.
Commuters are urged to plan ahead and allow for additional travel time, as these disruptions may impact weekend plans for many residents and visitors in Dublin. Stay tuned for further updates as the situation develops.
