Lil Nas X Pleads Not Guilty to Assault Charges in LA Incident

Lil Nas X, the Grammy-winning musician known for his hit “Old Town Road,” pleaded not guilty on March 4, 2025, to four felony charges related to an incident in Los Angeles. Police report that the artist was found wandering in his underwear when officers approached him, leading to allegations of assault against the officers.
A judge in Los Angeles set bail at $75,000 (€64,538) and mandated that the artist attend Narcotics Anonymous meetings as part of the conditions of his release. Authorities suspect that Lil Nas X was under the influence of drugs during the encounter, though his attorney, Christy O’Connor, contends that the singer was not using illegal substances. O’Connor described the incident as an “aberration” in the musician’s life.
The charges against Lil Nas X include three counts of battery against a police officer and one count of resisting arrest. The rapper, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, has made history as the first openly gay man to win a Country Music Association Award and has secured two Grammy Awards for his breakout song.
This incident marks a significant moment for Lil Nas X, who has garnered attention not only for his music but also for his influence on LGBTQ+ representation in the music industry. As the legal proceedings unfold, fans and observers will be watching closely to see how this situation impacts his career and public image.
At this time, Lil Nas X’s next court date has not yet been announced, leaving many to speculate on the potential outcomes of the case. The music community and the public await further developments in what has already become a highly publicized legal matter.
