Belfast Boutique Guesthouse Completes €8M Restoration, Creates 40 Jobs
Regency House, a boutique townhouse located in South Belfast, has successfully completed an extensive restoration project valued at €8.1 million (£7 million). This significant renovation has resulted in the creation of 40 new jobs and is part of a broader initiative aimed at revitalizing historic buildings in the area.
This latest phase of development represents the third stage in the regeneration of several landmark Grade II listed Georgian terrace buildings situated at 14 and 15 Upper Crescent. Over the course of four years, the project expanded Regency House by an impressive 7,275 square feet, adding two additional floors to the existing structure.
The restoration has introduced eight new bedrooms to the property, complementing the six existing one-bedroom and two-bedroom suites already available at 11 and 12 Upper Crescent. Enhancements also include a new restaurant on the ground floor, along with a bar and lounge named The Drawing Room, located on the first floor. This space will provide all-day dining for overnight guests, ensuring a comprehensive hospitality experience.
In addition to dining facilities, the renovation features a state-of-the-art fitness and wellness suite. This area is equipped with high-quality BLK BOX and Peloton exercise equipment, as well as a hot tub, sauna, and cold plunge pool, catering to guests seeking relaxation and wellness options during their stay.
Nicholas Forsythe, the general manager of Regency House, expressed enthusiasm about the project’s completion, stating, “We are thrilled to be unveiling the third phase of this milestone project. From the very start, we had an ambitious vision to not only restore these historic properties but also to rejuvenate this area of the city, which, despite its rich history, had fallen into disrepair.”
Katie Jackson, director of finance and operations at Regency House, echoed Forsythe’s sentiments, adding, “Through the endless support and tireless work of the entire project team, we are so proud to have achieved what we set out to do back in 2020, and as a result, create a truly unique five-star experience in the heart of Belfast. We are excited to continue this journey and see what is next in store for Regency House.”
The successful completion of this restoration not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the area but also plays a crucial role in boosting the local economy by providing job opportunities and attracting visitors to Belfast. The project highlights the potential for historical buildings to serve as focal points for community revitalization, blending heritage with modern hospitality services.
