JP McManus Pledges €40,000 to Local Charities at Limerick Race

Philanthropist and businessman JP McManus has reaffirmed his commitment to local charities through a significant initiative linked to horse racing in Limerick. Alongside his wife, Noreen McManus, the couple has pledged €40,000 to benefit various local charities as part of the ongoing sponsorship of the prestigious JT McNamara Munster National at Limerick Racecourse.
This year’s event marks its 25th running, and the sponsorship agreement with BoyleSports will extend until 2028. The Munster National is a prominent fixture in the horse racing calendar, known for attracting high-quality competitors, including past champions like Tiger Roll.
As part of the charitable initiative, the McManus family will host a charity sweepstake. Local charities are encouraged to participate, with each organization assigned a horse in the race. The winning charity will receive €20,000, while second and third places will earn €3,000 and €2,000, respectively. All other participating charities will receive €1,000 to support specific projects or initiatives.
Support for Local Charities
In addition to the sweepstake, Limerick Racecourse will donate 1,500 general admission tickets for the race day. Charities can sell these tickets to raise additional funds for their causes.
“I am delighted that we have this opportunity through the sweepstake to support the many charity and community organisations here in the Mid-West,” JP McManus stated. He expressed gratitude to BoyleSports and Limerick Racecourse for their collaboration in facilitating this charitable effort. “I look forward to what promises to be a very exciting and enjoyable meeting,” he added.
Liam McKee, Head of Sponsorship at BoyleSports, also expressed enthusiasm about the event. “We are delighted to continue our sponsorship of the Munster National and reinforce our commitment to Irish racing,” he noted. “It’s fantastic to see that JP & Noreen McManus are continuing their support of the charitable sweepstake, and I am sure the benefiting charities will continue their amazing work with the generous donations.”
How to Apply
Charities interested in participating in the sweepstake can apply by emailing [email protected] or visiting limerickraces.ie. The event promises to not only showcase top-tier horse racing but also to positively impact the local community through its financial support for charities.
The JT McNamara Munster National is scheduled for October 19, 2023, and the anticipation surrounding the event is building as local charities prepare to engage in this unique opportunity. With the backing of influential figures like JP and Noreen McManus, the event is set to leave a lasting legacy in the community.
