Milford Resource Centre Seeks Youth Project Co-Ordinator for Empowerment Initiative

Milford & District Resource CLG (MDRC) has announced an opening for a Youth Project Co-Ordinator to lead the Mulroy Youth Engagement Future Project. This initiative, funded by the International Fund for Ireland (IFI) under the Personal Youth Development Programme (PYDP), aims to empower young individuals aged 16 to 25 by enhancing their personal, social, and life skills. The position is a full-time role with an initial one-year contract, potentially extendable based on funding availability.
The MYE Future Project focuses on fostering positive community transformation across the Milford District in County Donegal. It aims to support young people in developing skills that promote good relationships, build confidence, and enhance resilience. The project is designed to help participants progress through various stages, facilitating access to education, vocational training, or employment.
Key Responsibilities and Project Goals
The successful candidate will play a vital role in facilitating the emotional and social development of young people in the target demographic. Responsibilities include recruiting participants through outreach activities, engaging them one-on-one to understand their individual needs, and creating personalized development plans.
The project will emphasize important areas such as:
– Good relations training, promoting diversity and tackling discrimination
– Life skills development through both accredited and non-accredited training
– Employment support aimed at helping participants identify and pursue career opportunities
Additionally, the Youth Project Co-Ordinator will be responsible for preparing reports for funders, coordinating events, and participating in steering committee meetings to ensure the project’s objectives are met effectively.
Qualifications and Application Process
Candidates interested in this role should have a third-level qualification in youth work or a related field, along with at least two years of relevant experience in community or youth work. A full driving license and access to a vehicle for work purposes are essential. The ideal applicant will possess strong advocacy skills, excellent interpersonal abilities, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive environment.
The position offers a competitive salary of €37,500 per annum on a pro-rata basis, along with a generous annual leave package. The contract involves working 37.5 hours per week, with flexibility required for evening and weekend support as needed.
