Urgent: Funeral Arrangements for Hilda Jackson Announced

UPDATE: Funeral arrangements have been confirmed for Hilda Jackson, a beloved member of the Templeglantine community, who tragically lost her life in a two-vehicle collision on October 18. The incident occurred just before noon at 11:50 AM on the N21 road, prompting urgent calls for traffic safety measures at the hazardous junction.

The collision involved Mrs. Jackson’s vehicle, which was crossing the N21 at the Devon Road Cross. Local councillors have previously highlighted this junction’s need for improved traffic calming measures during council meetings. Following the crash, Mrs. Jackson was transported to University Hospital Limerick where she was pronounced dead. A passenger in the other vehicle, also a woman in her 70s, sustained injuries but they are not believed to be life-threatening.

Mrs. Jackson, who had been an active member of the Tournafulla community for over 25 years, is mourned by her family and friends. She is survived by her daughter Linda Linnane, son Declan, and four grandchildren. Her husband, Michael Jackson, passed away in August 2014.

Mrs. Jackson will repose at Tournafulla Church tomorrow, October 22, from 5 PM to 7 PM. The Funeral Mass is set for October 23 at 11 AM, followed by cremation at Shannon Crematorium on October 24 at 12 noon. The family requests donations to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) instead of flowers.
