Kilkenomics has announced the addition of several new shows to its lineup as it approaches its 15th anniversary. Scheduled to take place from November 7 to 9, 2023, this year’s festival promises an engaging weekend filled with discussions on economics, finance, geopolitics, artificial intelligence, and technology, featuring notable contributors and comedians.
Among the new events is the live recording of the Financial Times podcast, FT UnHedged, hosted by Katie Martin. This special session will occur on November 8 at 12:30 at the Home Rule Club. The event is free but requires a ticket. During the recording, Martin will delve into pressing topics such as bubbles and Trumponomics, alongside special guest David McWilliams, a prominent economist known for his insightful analyses.
Another noteworthy addition is the talk titled To Grow or Not To Grow, which will be held at the Pembroke Hotel on November 8 at 20:30. This discussion will focus on Ireland’s energy future, exploring the challenges posed by rising demand and missed targets. Attendees can expect a stimulating debate and potentially some solutions, facilitated in partnership with the Sustainable Energy Association of Ireland.
The festival will also feature a panel discussion titled Women’s Business: The History of Irish Women in Brewing, Bottling, and Behind the Bar. Taking place at the Smithwick’s Experience on November 8 at 19:30, this event aims to highlight the contributions of Irish women to the economy before the 21st century. The expert panel will delve into the roles of women as business owners and entrepreneurs throughout history. Guests will enjoy a tasting of Smithwick’s, paired with culinary offerings from La Rivista, accompanied by live music from Monroe.
Overall, more than 50 shows are planned, featuring some of the brightest minds in global thought and the sharpest voices in both Irish and international comedy. Tickets and passes for this anticipated event are currently available at www.kilkenomics.com.
