Ireland AM’s Eric Roberts Joins Dancing with the Stars 2026 Line-Up
The new season of *Dancing with the Stars* is set to captivate audiences as Eric Roberts, a presenter from *Ireland AM*, has been announced as one of the contestants for the 2026 line-up. This season promises an exciting roster of celebrities, including Eurovision winner Niamh Kavanagh and comedian Michael Fry, among others. The competition is scheduled to commence on January 4, 2026, with Laura Fox taking over hosting duties from Doireann Garrihy, and Oti Mabuse stepping in as the new head judge.
Roberts, who is originally from Donegal, expressed a mix of excitement and apprehension regarding his participation. He is the sixth celebrity confirmed for this season, hoping to emulate the success of previous *Ireland AM* presenters who have graced the dance floor. Known for his dynamic presence on social media, particularly on TikTok and Instagram, Roberts has amassed over a million followers, showcasing his appeal to a broad audience.
Earlier this year, Roberts published his debut children’s book, *Gary the Stinky Goose*, inspired by his experiences as a Special Needs Assistant and his relationship with his nephew, Oisín, who has cerebral palsy and autism. This background highlights his commitment to storytelling and connection with young readers.
In discussing his upcoming journey on the dance show, Roberts remarked on the challenges that lie ahead. “I’ve been a fan of the show for years, and some of my friends have taken part and told me how amazing the experience is and also how difficult it can be,” he shared. He admitted to feeling “equally terrified” as he prepares to take on the dance floor, stating, “I’m trying to mentally prepare myself for it all.”
Roberts has already begun the necessary preparations, including fittings for his costumes. He noted that the attire will be outside of his usual style, but he is open to embracing new experiences, saying, “I’m up for anything (within reason).” The decision to join the competition required careful consideration, especially as a father of a young son. He praised his wife for being “extremely supportive” during this process.
Fans can anticipate all the glamour and excitement of *Dancing with the Stars* when it returns on January 4, 2026, airing on RTÉ One and available for streaming on RTÉ Player. As the competition heats up, audiences will be eager to see how Roberts and his fellow contestants tackle the challenges of the dance floor.
