Kelly Osbourne Responds to Trolls Over Disparaging Comments
Kelly Osbourne has publicly addressed the backlash she received regarding her appearance following her father’s death earlier this year. The reality television star, aged 41, expressed her frustration with online trolls who have made what she termed “disgusting” comments about her health and looks.
Osbourne took to Instagram to share her feelings, revealing that she has been coping with grief after the passing of her father, Ozzy Osbourne, who died of a heart attack at the age of 76. The legendary rocker had battled health issues, including coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s, for years, ultimately performing one last concert in his hometown of Birmingham shortly before his death.
Confronting Online Criticism
In her Instagram message, Kelly described receiving both supportive messages and “horrible, brutal comments” from some users. She questioned the expectations placed upon her during such a difficult period, stating, “What do you expect me to look like right now? The fact that I’m getting out of bed, facing my life and trying should be more than enough. I should be applauded for that.”
She further elaborated on how the negative comments have affected her, saying, “You say I look ill. I am ill, right now. My life has completely flipped upside down.” Kelly emphasized her honesty about her struggles, which she shares with her followers, fostering a mutual support system. “But these mean comments are helping nobody,” she urged, adding that such remarks only serve to elevate the bullies’ egos.
A Call for Solidarity Among Women
Kelly Osbourne expressed disappointment that many of the critical comments came from women, including professional mothers who, she noted, may also face personal challenges. “It’s devastating that women can’t support other women,” she lamented. “They’d rather tear them down when their dad’s just died. It’s disgusting, and I’ve had enough.”
She concluded her message with a defiant tone, urging those who engage in online bullying to reflect on their actions. “You need to take a strong, hard look at yourself because these things you’re saying about me are how you feel about yourself.”
As the conversation surrounding mental health and online behavior continues, Kelly Osbourne’s candid remarks highlight the impact of social media on personal well-being, particularly during times of grief. Her call for compassion and support resonates within a broader context, underscoring the need for empathy in an increasingly harsh digital landscape.
