Lotto Winners Overlook €200,000 Scratch Cards Until Claim Day

Two fortunate individuals from Ireland recently discovered they had won significant prizes from scratch cards, only to realize days later that they had forgotten about their tickets. Each winner scored an impressive €200,000 from separate purchases of the €10 All Cash Spectacular Scratch Cards.

The winners, hailing from Cork and Wicklow, made their way to the Lotto headquarters to claim their windfalls. The Wicklow winner, who bought his ticket at the Texaco Lake Service Station on the Baltinglass Road in Blessington, acknowledged that he left the scratch card untouched at home for several days.

“I bought it and then completely forgot about it!” he stated. “To think, the Scratch Card was just sitting there on a shelf for a few days before I even went near it.” Upon scratching it, he was in disbelief when he saw the top prize. His initial excitement was shared with his wife, who was skeptical at first. “I made sure to hide the Scratch Card properly when I knew just how much it was worth – a ticket worth €200,000 just sitting idle in my house for days,” he added.

The second winner, a woman from Cork, had purchased her ticket during a routine grocery shopping trip at Tesco Mahon Point. Like her counterpart, she also forgot about her winning ticket until later that evening. “I completely forgot I had the Scratch Card until later that evening,” she recounted.

While upstairs, she scratched the card and initially thought she had won €20,000. “I legged it downstairs to double-check with my husband. He was sceptical at first, but then confirmed it was actually €200,000.” The excitement was palpable in her household as they celebrated the life-changing news. “I like to buy a Scratch Card now and then, and while I’ve won a few euros before, this is by far the biggest and most exciting.”

Both winners expressed plans for their newfound wealth, with the Cork winner considering a cruise holiday to celebrate with her family.

In addition to these significant scratch card wins, another woman from Athlone visited the Lotto headquarters to claim her Telly Bingo Snowball Prize worth €45,005 from the October 17 draw. She purchased her ticket from Spollen’s Supermarket in Glasson, revealing that it was a gift from a friend. Surprisingly, she did not know how to play the game.

“Funnily enough, I don’t play Telly Bingo, and this was actually a gift from a friend,” she joked. “I checked the ticket after hearing there was a local win and scanned it on the app. From there, it was a rollercoaster of emotions. I couldn’t believe it.” She shared her joy with colleagues, family, and friends, all of whom were thrilled by the unexpected news.
