Fahan’s Nikita McGrath Becomes Donegal’s Newest Solicitor

UPDATE: Nikita McGrath, a woman from Fahan, has officially become Donegal’s newest practising solicitor. She was introduced during a formal ceremony at Letterkenny District Court on Tuesday, marking a significant milestone in her legal career.

Nikita McGrath, who graduated with her LLB in Law from ATU in 2012, has dedicated over a decade to gaining hands-on experience in various legal offences. Her journey in the legal profession took a major leap when she began her professional training at Blackhall Place in January 2023. After successfully fulfilling all requirements, she achieved her solicitor qualification in March 2025 and is now practicing with Patrick J Sweeney Solicitors.

During the court session, barrister Peter Nolan BL praised Ms. McGrath, stating,

“She is a very diligent, hard-working young lady. I see a great future for her in the profession. I have no doubt that she will shine and I wish her every success and congratulations.”

Ms. McGrath’s family, including her parents, Christine and John, her sister Abbie, and her grandmother Anne Deeney, were present to celebrate this proud moment. Judge Emile Daly also expressed his congratulations, welcoming her into the legal community with open arms. He stated,

“You are surrounded by very able and experienced practitioners to give you all the support that you need to represent clients.”

Adding a touch of humor, Sergeant Jim Collins from An Garda Síochána welcomed Ms. McGrath, noting their roles, “I look forward to working with you as closely as we can given that I am on the bright side and she is on the dark side!”

After the accolades, Ms. McGrath expressed her gratitude, saying, “I’m looking forward to working with you all.” Her journey to this esteemed position highlights her commitment and passion for the law, and the community is eager to see her impact in the legal field.
