Family Pleads for Help After Dublin E-Scooter Crash Claims Life

URGENT UPDATE: The family of Dragusin Vasilica, a 31-year-old plumber tragically killed in a horror e-scooter accident in Dublin, is urgently appealing for financial assistance to repatriate his body to Romania. Vasilica lost his life after colliding with a car on the Old Navan Road in Blanchardstown at around 10:50 PM on August 3, 2025.
Authorities report that Vasilica was riding his e-scooter when the accident occurred. He was rushed to James Connolly Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Originally from Ialomita, Romania, Vasilica had been living in Ireland for approximately four years, where he worked diligently as a plumber, hoping to secure a better future for himself.
In the wake of this devastating loss, Vasilica’s relatives have launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover the costs of his repatriation and basic funeral services. The fundraising effort has already raised nearly €3,843 towards a goal of €4,500. The campaign organizer, Bitoleanu Ilie, expressed the family’s heartbreak, stating, “With a broken heart, we announce that Dragusin Vasilica…lost his life following a serious road accident.” He described Vasilica as a “quiet, hardworking man with a big heart and simple dreams.”
The family emphasizes their financial struggle in this difficult time, urging anyone who can contribute to help bring Vasilica home. “Any amount, no matter how small, can make a huge difference for the family,” Ilie added.
Meanwhile, local police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision. A spokesperson for Gardai stated that they are seeking witnesses or anyone with dash-cam footage from the area between 10:40 PM and 11:00 PM on the night of the crash. The police encourage anyone with information to come forward by contacting Blanchardstown Garda Station at 01 666 7000 or the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111.
The road where the accident occurred was temporarily closed for a technical examination but has since reopened. As the investigation continues, the impact of this tragic incident is felt deeply by the community and Vasilica’s loved ones, who are grappling with the loss of a promising young life.
