Gardai Hunt Driver After Serious Hit-and-Run in Limerick

Gardai have initiated a manhunt for the driver involved in a serious hit-and-run incident that left a pedestrian injured in County Limerick on the morning of October 19, 2025. The incident occurred around 11:30 AM in a car park located in Castleconnell, approximately 16 kilometers from Limerick City.

The pedestrian, a man in his 30s, was struck by a vehicle and immediately transported by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick, where he is currently in serious condition. Following the incident, Gardai sealed off the car park as they conducted a technical examination of the site.

In their investigation, Gardai are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby businesses and residences to gather more information about the vehicle and its driver. The search for the driver is ongoing, with officers remaining on-site and additional investigators dispatched to the hospital to monitor the injured man’s condition.

In a statement to the media, a Gardai spokesperson confirmed, “Gardai were alerted to an incident that occurred on Castle Street, Castleconnell, Co. Limerick this morning at approximately 11:30 AM. Emergency services attended the scene, and one male, aged in his 30s, was taken to University Hospital Limerick with serious injuries. Investigations are ongoing.”
