Inishowen Councillors Approve €20M Conference Venue Proposal
UPDATE: Inishowen councillors have just approved a transformative proposal for a major conference venue on the peninsula. During a crucial meeting on October 22, 2025, the plan for an Events and Conference Centre, estimated to cost €20 million, was presented by John Farren of Ballyliffin Golf Club.
The proposed centre is designed to attract an estimated 100,000 additional visitors each year, which could significantly boost the local economy. “This facility will rival existing centres in Castlebar and Killarney, offering Inishowen the economic lift it desperately needs,” stated Cathaoirleach Cllr Martin McDermott during the meeting.
The feasibility study outlines how the centre could stimulate further development in the region, creating jobs and enhancing the tourism sector. Councillors expressed strong support, emphasizing the urgent need for infrastructural improvement to accommodate the growing demand for event spaces in the area.
As this project moves forward, it presents a unique opportunity for Inishowen to establish itself as a premier destination for conferences and events. Stakeholders and community members are urged to stay informed as plans progress.
What’s Next: The next steps involve detailed planning and securing funding to bring this ambitious vision to life. Local authorities are expected to provide updates in the coming weeks as the project develops.
Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development that could reshape Inishowen’s future.
