Irish Designer Martha Nolan Found Dead on Yacht; Police Investigate
URGENT UPDATE: The body of Irish fashion designer Martha Nolan, aged 33, has been discovered on a boat at the exclusive Montauk Yacht Club in The Hamptons. Police are actively investigating the cause of her death, which remains inconclusive following a preliminary examination.
Authorities received a 911 call around midnight on July 25, 2023, reporting an unconscious woman aboard a vessel named Ripple. Despite attempts at CPR by good Samaritans, first responders pronounced her dead on the scene.
The Suffolk County Police Department has not disclosed further details about the cause of death, stating that an autopsy will determine the specifics. Homicide detectives are involved in the ongoing investigation, as reports suggest witnesses heard screams emanating from the yacht.
Friends and colleagues of Nolan are devastated by her sudden passing. She was known for her vibrant lifestyle and entrepreneurial spirit, founding the fashion label East x East. A close friend described her as a “lovely woman” who was committed to achieving her dreams in the fashion industry.
“It’s such a sad thing to hear that a young vibrant woman who had the world at her feet has died,” said Carlow Sinn Fein councillor Jim Deane.
The news has drawn condolences from various officials, including Taoiseach Micheal Martin, who called it an “absolutely devastating blow for the family.” Martin described Nolan as “a young, beautiful, very talented, creative woman” and emphasized the loss felt by her community in Carlow.
Nolan’s business partner, Dylan Grace, shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, expressing gratitude for their time together and the dreams they built. He wrote, “I’m truly blessed and grateful to have had you in my life.”
The Montauk Yacht Club, a popular destination for celebrities, expressed sadness over the incident and confirmed their cooperation with law enforcement. They emphasized their commitment to the safety and well-being of guests.
Nolan, who often showcased her luxurious lifestyle on social media, had recently celebrated the opening of a pop-up shop in Montauk. Just weeks prior, she reflected on her brand’s success and her aspirations within the fashion industry.
As investigators continue to probe the circumstances surrounding her death, the community mourns the loss of a vibrant talent whose life was filled with promise. The situation remains fluid, with updates expected as the autopsy results are released and further details emerge.
This tragic event highlights the fragility of life and the impact of loss on loved ones, friends, and the wider community. Stay tuned for more developments in this ongoing investigation.
