Munster Announces Team for Urgent Showdown Against Argentina XV
UPDATE: Munster Rugby is set for an electrifying meeting with the Argentina XV this Saturday at 5 PM in Thomond Park. The team has just unveiled a drastically revamped lineup, featuring 11 changes from the squad that triumphed over Connacht last weekend.
Leading the charge is Jack O’Donoghue, who steps in as captain for this crucial fixture. Notable inclusions in the front row are Josh Wycherley and Academy tighthead Ronan Foxe, marking Foxe’s first start in this high-stakes match-up. The second-row sees a completely new pairing with Conor Ryan making his debut for Munster alongside Evan O’Connell, who earns his first start of the season.
While the back row sees minimal adjustments, with O’Donoghue and Gavin Coombes retaining their spots, Ruadhán Quinn joins the duo at openside. The half-back positions are filled with Paddy Patterson and Tony Butler, while Seán O’Brien partners with Fionn Gibbons, who is also set to make his first start for Munster.
After a successful return from injury, Diarmuid Kilgallen holds his place on the right wing, and Shay McCarthy takes the left wing, with Mike Haley back at full-back.
On the injury front, Munster faces challenges as John Hodnett (foot), Calvin Nash (shoulder), Conor Bartley (hamstring), Diamuid Barron (neck), and Alex Kendellen (ankle) are expected to return by the end of November. Meanwhile, Brian Gleeson (elbow) and Andrew Smith (knee/hamstring) will be sidelined for up to ten weeks.
As anticipation builds for this exciting encounter, fans are eager to see how the new lineup performs against a formidable Argentina XV. The stakes are high, and every moment counts in this thrilling matchup.
Stay tuned for updates as the kickoff draws nearer and the atmosphere at Thomond Park intensifies!
