TG4 Sees Record Viewership for All-Ireland Ladies Finals

TG4 has achieved a remarkable milestone in viewership for the All-Ireland ladies football finals held at Croke Park. On Sunday, attendance reached 48,000, falling short of the record 56,000 set during the Dublin/Galway All-Ireland Final in 2019. Nevertheless, the television audience surged, with nearly 490,000 viewers tuning into TG4’s coverage of the finals, which showcased the senior, intermediate, and junior championship matches.
The senior final, featuring Dublin against Meath, attracted an average audience of 172,500, capturing a 27 percent share of viewers. This figure indicates a significant 16 percent increase compared to last year’s senior final. Viewer engagement peaked at 17:43 as Dublin closed in on reclaiming the prestigious Brendan Martin Cup.
Strong Interest Across All Finals
The intermediate final, which saw Tyrone take on Laois, garnered an average audience of 93,900, while the junior final between Antrim and Louth drew in 32,600 viewers. Overall, live streaming numbers for the three finals saw a substantial 37 percent increase compared to the previous year. This trend highlights a growing appetite for live sports content online.
Additionally, social media engagement during finals week was impressive, with over 3.4 million views across the Spórt TG4 channels. A standout moment was Nicole Owens’ stunning goal for Dublin, which reached 120,000 views within just 24 hours, illustrating the vibrant online community surrounding these events.
TG4 has partnered with the Ladies Gaelic Football Association (LGFA) since 2001, marking this year as their 25th anniversary of covering these important matches. The growth in both viewership and social media engagement underscores the increasing popularity of ladies football in Ireland and beyond.
