Urgent Call to Double Capacity at Portumna Campervan Park

UPDATE: A critical call has been made to expand the campervan park in Portumna, as local authorities respond to surging demand for motorhome accommodations. Currently housing only 18 parking spots, the park may soon double its capacity if local officials have their way.
During a recent meeting at County Hall, Loughrea Councillor Jimmy McClearn emphasized the urgent need for expansion, citing overwhelming interest from visitors. “The demand is clear,” McClearn stated. “We have the opportunity to significantly enhance our capacity and better serve tourists.”
Despite the park’s income falling short of operational costs, McClearn argues the facility’s value to the town is undeniable. “The tourism benefits far outweigh the financial challenges,” he added, highlighting the park’s role in drawing visitors and supporting local businesses.
This move comes as tourism in the area continues to rebound, with many seeking outdoor experiences in scenic locations like Portumna. The proposed expansion could potentially transform the park into a key attraction, offering a boost to the local economy just in time for the upcoming tourist season.
Officials are now considering the logistics and funding needed for this expansion. A timeline for potential renovations and increased capacity has not yet been established, but residents are hopeful for swift action.
Stay tuned as more updates about this developing story are expected soon.
