Woman Arrested for Online Threats Against Simon Harris, Family
UPDATE: A woman in her 30s has been arrested and charged for making online threats against Tánaiste Simon Harris and his family. This urgent development came to light as Gardaí launched an investigation into the threats reported on social media over the past few months.
The arrest occurred today, November 20, 2025, following heightened scrutiny of the alarming messages directed at Harris. Authorities confirmed that the woman is set to appear at the Criminal Courts of Justice (CCJ, Court No. 1) later this morning.
Earlier in September, Gardaí had detained another woman in her 30s concerning the same threats, but she was released without charges. The renewed investigation indicates a serious escalation in the ongoing situation, prompting immediate public concern.
A Gardaí spokesperson stated, “Gardaí investigating online threats against an elected representative have arrested and charged a woman today.” This incident underscores the increasing risks faced by public figures and their families in the digital age.
As the case unfolds, it raises significant questions about the safety of politicians and the responsibility of social media platforms in monitoring and addressing online harassment.
The public is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities that may compromise safety.
Stay tuned for updates as this developing story progresses.
