Westmeath Player Claims €6.2 Million Lotto Jackpot with Rare Ticket Purchase
A player from Westmeath has made headlines after winning a staggering €6,241,505 in last Wednesday’s Lotto draw. The individual, who has chosen to remain anonymous, expressed disbelief at their good fortune, stating, “It still feels like a dream.”
During a visit to the Winners Room at Lottery HQ, the winner revealed that they are not a regular participant in the Lotto. In fact, they can count on one hand the number of times they have purchased a ticket this year. “Would you believe that I can actually count on one hand the number of times that I have played Lotto this year? I just picked up a ticket when I was out and about, and sure look, here I am now!” they shared.
Plans for the Future
As Ireland’s newest Lotto millionaire, the winner is now contemplating how to utilize their newfound wealth. A Mediterranean cruise tops their list of dream experiences. “Sun, sea, and sand definitely sounds good right about now!” they added enthusiastically.
This win marks the 26th time this year that an individual has become a millionaire through the National Lottery in Ireland, and it ranks as the fifth-highest prize awarded in 2025. With the year drawing to a close, anticipation builds for the upcoming Millionaire Raffle on New Year’s Eve. This special draw promises to add another winner to the ranks of millionaires, featuring a top prize of €1 million.
Upcoming Lottery Opportunities
The Millionaire Raffle will offer a total of 8,500 prizes, including six prizes of €100,000, 15 prizes of €10,000, and numerous smaller amounts. Tickets for this draw are limited to 600,000 and are priced at €25 each. They can be purchased at National Lottery agents across the country or online at www.lottery.ie and via the National Lottery App.
As the festive season approaches, the National Lottery is urging players to gift responsibly. Sarah Orr, a spokesperson for the National Lottery, emphasized the importance of responsible gifting during this time. “We ask all of our players to support our ‘Gift Responsibly’ campaign,” she said. “It is always important to remember that National Lottery products are strictly for those who are aged 18 years and over.”
With the thrill of winning and the joy of the holiday season, the Westmeath winner’s story serves as a reminder of the excitement and possibilities that accompany the National Lottery.
