Young Irish Designer Found Dead on Yacht in Montauk, NY

URGENT UPDATE: The fashion world mourns as 33-year-old Irish designer Martha Nolan-O’Slatarra was found dead aboard a yacht at Montauk Yacht Club in New York early this morning. Authorities report she was discovered unconscious around midnight on a vessel named Ripple, a known party boat. Despite immediate attempts to revive her, East Hampton Town Police pronounced her dead at the scene.
Martha, originally from Co Carlow, had made her mark in the fashion industry as the founder of the successful label East x East. After moving to Manhattan at 26 years old, she previously worked in sales for a fintech start-up before launching her own brand specializing in eyewear, swimwear, and resortwear.
In a heartfelt tribute, her business partner Dylan Grace expressed his grief on social media, stating, “We dreamed big together, laughed harder than anyone else could understand, and built so much from nothing. I’m truly blessed and grateful to have had you in my life. Love you so much Mar. Fly high girl.” This touching message, accompanied by photos of their time together, captures the profound loss felt by those who knew her.
The circumstances surrounding Martha’s death remain unclear. The Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office has launched an investigation to determine the cause. A boater at the scene described the yacht as a lively party boat, adding a layer of intrigue to this tragic incident.
Martha graduated from University College Dublin and earned a master’s degree in digital marketing from Smurfit Business School. Her innovative designs and vibrant spirit left an indelible mark on the fashion community, making her untimely death all the more shocking.
As the investigation unfolds, friends, family, and fans are left to grapple with the sudden loss of a promising talent in the industry. For updates on this developing story, stay tuned.
