Dublin Unveils Festive Bus Schedule with Expanded Nitelink Services
Transport for Ireland has announced the bus schedules for Christmas and New Year across the country, outlining significant changes to services during the festive period. Most bus services will operate as usual on Christmas Eve, with no services available on Christmas Day. On St. Stephen’s Day and New Year’s Day, Sunday and Public Holiday timetables will be in effect.
Dublin Bus will enhance its Nitelink service throughout December, extending late-night operations on Fridays and Saturdays. Additional Nitelink trips will be available on December 11, 13, 18, and 21, running from midnight until 04:00 AM. Most other routes will finish service around 23:30 daily.
Detailed Service Schedule
For passengers planning their festive travel, here are the scheduled services:
Bus Éireann:
– **Christmas Eve**: All services will run normally, with last departures around 21:00.
– **Christmas Day**: No service will be available.
– **St. Stephen’s Day**: Sunday timetable will apply, with most routes starting at 09:00, aside from some local exceptions.
– **December 27–31**: Normal services will resume.
– **New Year’s Day**: Sunday timetable will be in effect.
Dublin Bus:
– **Christmas Eve**: Services will follow a Saturday timetable, with last departures around 21:00.
– **Christmas Day**: There will be no service.
– **St. Stephen’s Day**: Sunday timetable applies, with the Nitelink not operating.
– **December 27–30**: Saturday timetable will be in place, featuring extra morning peak journeys. Full Nitelink services will run on December 27 and 28.
– **New Year’s Eve**: The Saturday timetable will apply, with full Nitelink and 24-hour services.
– **New Year’s Day**: Sunday timetable will be effective, with no Nitelink service.
Go-Ahead Ireland:
– **Christmas Eve**: Normal services until 21:00.
– **Christmas Day**: No service will be offered.
– **St. Stephen’s Day**: Public Holiday timetable will start at 09:00.
– **December 27–30**: Normal services will resume.
– **New Year’s Eve**: Normal services will operate.
– **New Year’s Day**: A Sunday timetable will be in place.
Passengers are encouraged to visit the websites of their respective operators for the latest updates on service changes. Additionally, Christmas timetables for train and Luas services have also been published.
The festive schedule aims to accommodate increased passenger volumes during the holiday season, ensuring that residents and visitors can enjoy the celebrations with accessible transport options.
