Patti Smith to Enchant Fans with Intimate Concert at King John’s Castle
Legendary musician and poet Patti Smith will perform an intimate concert at King John’s Castle in Limerick on July 14, 2026. This marks Smith’s first appearance in the city and is expected to be one of her most personal performances this year. The event is organized by Seoda Shows and Dolans, in collaboration with Foggy Notions, highlighting the unique opportunity for fans to experience her artistry in a historic venue.
Born in Chicago and raised in South Jersey, Smith moved to New York City in 1967, where she became a pivotal figure in the arts scene. Her groundbreaking debut album, Horses, released in 1975, is now included in the National Recording Registry. It introduced a bold new voice that continues to influence artists across generations. In recognition of her contributions, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007.
Throughout her illustrious career, Smith has released numerous acclaimed albums, including Radio Ethiopia, Easter, which features the classic “Because the Night” co-written with Bruce Springsteen, and Dream of Life, known for its anthem “People Have the Power.” Other notable works include Gone Again, Gung Ho, and Banga. Smith is a four-time Grammy nominee and has gained recognition in film, literature, and visual arts. She received an Emmy nomination for the documentary Patti Smith: Dream of Life, directed by Steven Sebring.
Smith’s literary contributions are equally impressive. Her memoir Just Kids, which recounts her deep friendship with photographer Robert Mapplethorpe, won the National Book Award in 2010. This was followed by other acclaimed works such as M Train, Year of the Monkey, and A Book of Days. Her latest release, Bread of Angels: A Memoir, has recently hit the shelves.
The concert at King John’s Castle promises a unique experience to witness one of rock music’s most iconic figures in a stunning historical context. Fans and newcomers alike can look forward to an evening filled with Smith’s emotional power and artistic vitality, making this a not-to-be-missed event in Limerick’s cultural calendar.
