Honor Unveils Magic V5 Foldable Smartphone with Advanced AI Features

Honor has officially confirmed that its new Magic V5 foldable smartphone will launch this week during a special event in London on August 28, 2025. This announcement follows the device’s initial launch in China last month and its rollout in select Asian and European markets, including Hong Kong, Malaysia, and the Czech Republic. The Magic V5 will soon be available for purchase in countries such as Ireland, the UK, France, Germany, and Italy.
The Magic V5 will run on Android 16 out of the box, marking a significant upgrade for users in these European markets. According to Bond Zhang, CEO of Honor Ireland & UK, the new smartphone boasts deep integration with the Google AI model Gemini, alongside a commitment to provide seven years of Android updates and security patches for customers in the EU and the UK.
“Our collaboration with Google reflects Honor’s long-term commitment to bring the latest AI-powered experiences to our devices,” Zhang stated. This partnership signifies a pivotal step for Honor as it aims to evolve into a global AI device ecosystem company, enhancing user experience through advanced technology.
Innovative Features and AI Integration
The Honor Magic V5 introduces several innovative features, including the Google Gemini AI assistant, which will be accessible by long-pressing the power button. This assistant aids users in writing, planning, and learning, allowing them to retrieve information across multiple apps with a single command. Additionally, it can simplify complex topics and provide real-time responses during important moments.
To enhance accessibility, Honor has developed a new feature called Tap Tap, enabling users to launch Gemini effortlessly by double-tapping the back of the device, eliminating the need to unlock the phone or navigate through applications. The device also supports a multi-flex mode, allowing users to operate up to three app windows simultaneously. This feature facilitates efficient multitasking, enabling users to review notes, participate in video calls, and engage with the AI assistant without interruption.
For instance, users can drag terms from documents directly into Gemini for immediate clarification or summarize meeting notes while inputting key dates into their Google Calendar. These capabilities aim to set a new standard for productivity in foldable devices.
Camera System and Performance
In collaboration with Qualcomm, the Magic V5 features the AI Falcon Camera System, which leverages Qualcomm’s advanced imaging architecture and Spectra ISP hardware. This partnership combines computational photography with proprietary AI algorithms, delivering exceptional real-time scene perception, motion recognition, and improved autofocus.
The camera system includes a 64MP Ultra Sensing Periscope Telephoto Camera with 3X optical zoom and 100X digital zoom, alongside a 50MP Ultra-Light Sensitive Falcon Main Camera designed for optimal performance in low-light conditions. Honor is confident that its advanced camera system will stand out as the best among foldable smartphones in 2025.
The official pricing and availability details for the Honor Magic V5 will be announced during the launch event on August 28. Interested consumers can find more information on the Honor online store at www.honor.com.
