Manchán Magan Cancels Tour Due to Cancer Setback

Writer and broadcaster Manchán Magan has announced the cancellation of his upcoming tour of Arán & Im, including a scheduled performance at The Everyman theatre in Cork. This decision follows a recent setback in his battle with prostate cancer, as communicated to ticket holders on Tuesday.
In a statement, The Everyman theatre confirmed that all dates of Magan’s tour would be canceled, and full refunds would be issued for tickets purchased for the show set for November 10, 2023. Those who booked online or by phone using a credit card will receive automatic refunds. For customers who bought tickets in person at the box office, arrangements will be made to process their refunds.
“We wish Manchán all the best with his treatment, and if you have any queries on this matter, please don’t hesitate to contact us,” the theatre stated in their email to ticket holders.
In 2023, Magan was diagnosed with prostate cancer, a topic he discussed during a recent appearance on Brendan O’Connor‘s show on RTÉ Radio 1. During the interview, he expressed his reflections on living with cancer, sharing, “It’s a lovely thing to know that I can plan my last few, is it months, or years? We don’t know. We might get a year or two, and definitely get another few months.”
Magan elaborated on his personal connection to the spirit world, recalling how his parents recognized his imaginative nature. He described a special corner in the garden where he would cultivate herbs and flowers, a place that allowed him to feel a connection to those beyond.
“I would just be hearing the spirit world, I would just be communicating with them. It was just these loving voices. The voice of feeling, this absolute, that I have been put into this shell of a body for a certain amount of time, and I am like this white light. This loving source of white light, and I’m here to play,” said Magan.
As the community supports Magan during this challenging time, his fans and followers remain hopeful for his recovery and future endeavors.
