Limerick Woman Charged with Assaulting Garda, Case Adjourned
UPDATE: A Limerick woman, Shauna Moore, has just appeared in court facing multiple charges, including assaulting a garda and damaging a police patrol car during a startling incident in Kilmallock on October 10, 2023. The 31-year-old, residing at Orr Street, also faces additional charges under the Public Order Act and failing to provide information regarding an unrelated investigation.
During a brief court hearing today, Inspector Barry Manton informed the court that Moore had initially appeared before a special sitting in Ennis following her arrest. The Director of Public Prosecutions has consented to the case being handled in the district court, expediting the legal process.
Solicitor Julianne Kiely requested a disclosure order, which the court heard could take “at least eight weeks” to fulfill. In response, Judge Patricia Harney granted the application and adjourned the case until January 13, 2026. Moore, who has been assigned legal aid, remains on bail pending her next court appearance.
No further details regarding the assault or damage to the patrol car were disclosed during this urgent hearing, leaving many questions unanswered about the circumstances surrounding the incident. The case has caught the attention of local residents, highlighting ongoing concerns regarding public safety and interactions with law enforcement.
As this story develops, observers are left to wonder how the legal proceedings will unfold and what implications this may have for community relations in Kilmallock. Stay tuned for further updates as new information becomes available.
