Caitlin Kennedy, a pharmacy student from Meenderryhirk in Dungloe, has been awarded the prestigious Almac Pharmacology Prize by Ulster University in recognition of her outstanding academic performance. Kennedy achieved the highest aggregate score in her second year of study across all science disciplines, earning her this notable distinction.
The award was presented during the annual prize-giving ceremony held at the University’s Diamond Hall on November 6, 2023. During the event, students from the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences were recognized for their achievements throughout their four-year programs. This included accolades for academic excellence, professional skills, and research contributions.
In addition to the recent recognition, Caitlin Kennedy was also an award recipient on the Ulster University Dean’s List last year. This honour is reserved for students who demonstrate exceptional academic performance, achieving an average of 70% or greater across all assessments.
Currently, Kennedy is in her third year of the pharmacy degree program and is undertaking a four-week placement in hospital and community healthcare settings. Despite her busy schedule, she returned to the Coleraine campus to accept her award, highlighting her commitment to her studies.
The Almac Pharmacology Prize reflects not only Kennedy’s individual achievements but also the supportive academic environment at Ulster University, which continues to foster excellence in the field of pharmacy.
As Caitlin Kennedy progresses in her studies, her dedication and hard work serve as an inspiration to her peers, reinforcing the importance of academic excellence in the pursuit of a career in healthcare.
