The Dunnamaggin Gymkhana, held in August at Goodwinsgarden in Kells, generated significant funds for two charitable organizations in Kilkenny. Thanks to the generosity of local sponsors and the success of a raffle, the event raised a total of €15,000, which was evenly distributed between St Joseph’s Home and Cois Nore.

Roberta Dowley, a member of the Gymkhana Committee, highlighted the importance of community support. “We would not have raised so much money for both St Joseph’s Home and Cois Nore without our sponsors,” she stated. The event, hosted with the kind permission of Larry and Kathryn Costello, brought together members of the community for a day of fun and fundraising.

Community Spirit Shines Through

The success of the Dunnamaggin Gymkhana showcases the strength of community engagement in Kilkenny. Local businesses and individuals contributed to the fundraising efforts, demonstrating a collective commitment to supporting those in need. Dowley expressed gratitude towards the sponsors, emphasizing, “We are extremely grateful to all our sponsors who support the Gymkhana each year.”

The Gymkhana not only provided entertainment but also served as a platform for raising awareness about the vital services offered by St Joseph’s Home and Cois Nore. Both organizations play crucial roles in supporting vulnerable populations in the area, making the funds raised particularly impactful.

Looking Ahead

As the Dunnamaggin Gymkhana continues to grow, organizers aim to build on this year’s success. Plans for the next event will focus on expanding participation and increasing the amount raised for local charities. The unwavering support from the community and sponsors remains essential for achieving these goals.

This year’s event proved that with collaboration and dedication, the Dunnamaggin Gymkhana can make a meaningful difference in the lives of many. The Gymkhana Committee looks forward to continuing this tradition of giving, fostering community spirit, and supporting important local initiatives.
