Limerick Remembrance Tree Raises €5,000 for Cancer Fund
The Limerick Central Rotary Club’s Remembrance Tree initiative has successfully raised €5,000 for the charity Cancer Fund for Children. This fundraising effort took place throughout December 2023 at the Castletroy Town Centre, culminating in a cheque presentation held last month at the Limerick Strand Hotel.
Cancer Fund for Children offers essential support to children and young people affected by cancer, whether through their own diagnosis or that of a family member. Each year, the organization assists over 1,500 individuals across the island of Ireland, providing a wide range of services designed to meet various needs.
The support offered by Cancer Fund for Children encompasses therapeutic short breaks, emotional and community support, as well as assistance on hospital wards and bereavement services. This comprehensive approach aims to create a positive impact on the lives of young people grappling with the challenges posed by cancer.
The Remembrance Tree serves not only as a symbol of hope but also as a reminder of the importance of community involvement in supporting those facing serious health challenges. The funds raised through this initiative will directly contribute to enhancing the quality of life for children and their families, ensuring they receive the care and support necessary during difficult times.
The success of this year’s campaign reflects the strong commitment of the Limerick community to support charitable causes. The Rotary Club’s efforts in organizing the Remembrance Tree demonstrate how local initiatives can lead to significant contributions to vital services.
As the community looks forward to future fundraising events, the impact of the Remembrance Tree reminds all of the collective power of compassion and generosity in making a difference in the lives of children affected by cancer.
