Donegal County Council has officially launched Phase Three of the Buncrana Night-Time Economy Grant Scheme, aimed at invigorating the town’s evening culture. This initiative seeks to encourage local businesses, community groups, artists, and performers to propose innovative events and festivals that can enhance Buncrana’s vibrancy after dark.

This new phase emphasizes the importance of fostering a diverse range of activities, allowing residents and visitors alike to experience the area’s cultural offerings. The scheme is designed to support events that take place between April and October 2026, creating opportunities for entertainment that appeal to all ages.

Applicants can benefit from two tiers of funding within the scheme. The first tier provides grants of up to €500 for smaller events, while the second tier allocates between €500 and €4,000 for larger festivals and more ambitious projects. Past iterations of the grant have attracted a wide variety of applications from sectors including arts, hospitality, and community initiatives.

The deadline for submitting applications is set for March 27, 2026, at 12:00 noon. Interested parties are encouraged to access application forms online at www.donegalcoco.ie/nte. For further assistance, applicants may reach out to Sophie Gallagher, Night-Time Economy Advisor at Donegal County Council, via email at [email protected].

This initiative is part of a broader effort funded by the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport, reflecting a commitment to enriching the community’s social and economic landscape. By supporting local talent and creativity, the Buncrana Night-Time Economy Scheme aims to transform the town into a more inviting destination once the sun sets.

As Buncrana continues to evolve, the success of this program could set a precedent for similar initiatives in other communities, highlighting the significance of night-time economies in promoting cultural engagement and local business development.
