Concerns Rise as Eurogiant Faces Joint Provisional Liquidation
Concerns are escalating regarding the future of Eurogiant, a prominent discount retailer located in Kilkenny, following the appointment of joint provisional liquidators by the High Court. On February 4, 2026, Mark Degnan and Brendan O’Reilly were officially designated as Joint Provisional Liquidators for Euro General Retail Ltd and Bushgrove Ltd, which operate under the Eurogiant brand.
A notice displayed on the Kilkenny store’s window addressed to customers outlined that due to insolvency, the joint provisional liquidators are unable to process returns, refunds, or repairs for any goods purchased. This announcement has left many customers anxious about their recent purchases and outstanding transactions.
For customers seeking assistance with returns, repairs, or refunds, the notice provides an email address: [email protected]. It requests that customers include proof of purchase, such as a receipt, when reaching out. Additionally, the notice states that any outstanding Eurogiant gift cards cannot be accepted, and individuals with unused gift cards are instructed to send details and a copy of the gift card to the same email address.
Queries regarding product warranties are advised to be directed to the original suppliers of the products purchased.
Euro General Retail Ltd and Bushgrove Limited together operate 77 stores across the country and employ over 600 staff. The recent joint provisional liquidation is often utilized to safeguard a company’s assets while assessing its financial position. The next steps could vary significantly, ranging from an organized closure to potential rescue or sale efforts, yet the longer-term future of Eurogiant, including its Kilkenny outlet, remains uncertain.
The situation raises concerns not only for the employees and customers but also for the broader retail landscape in Kilkenny, as many depend on the store for affordable goods. The community is now watching closely as developments unfold, hoping for a resolution that could preserve jobs and maintain the store’s presence in the area.
As the appointed liquidators work to navigate this challenging situation, the implications for Eurogiant and its stakeholders will be closely monitored in the coming weeks.
