Zaytoon Announces Closure of Camden Street Branch Amid Rising Costs
The popular kebab shop Zaytoon has confirmed the impending closure of its Camden Street branch in Dublin, citing rising costs and increasing pressures as the primary reasons for the decision. The announcement was made via a social media post on the evening of October 17, 2023, marking the end of a notable dining destination for locals and visitors alike.
Founded by Iranian business partners Jamshid Kamvar and Azad Shirazi, Zaytoon first opened its doors on Parliament Street in January 2000. The Camden Street location followed five years later, quickly becoming a go-to spot for late-night meals in the vibrant city. While the Camden Street outlet will close, the company plans to continue operations at its remaining branches in Parliament Street, Sandyford, and Swords Pavilions.
Impact of Rising Operational Costs
The decision to shut down the Camden Street location reflects broader challenges faced by businesses in Dublin, particularly those in the hospitality sector. According to recent reports, many small firms have struggled with escalating operational expenses in the years following the pandemic, raising concerns about their long-term viability.
In their social media message, Zaytoon expressed gratitude to customers for their loyalty and support throughout the years. “We are truly grateful for your loyalty and continued support over the years,” the post read, emphasizing the emotional connection the business has built with its patrons.
As Zaytoon continues to navigate the complexities of the current economic landscape, the closure of the Camden Street branch serves as a poignant reminder of the ongoing difficulties many small enterprises face in urban environments.
A Legacy of Quality and Community
Zaytoon has established itself as a beloved part of Dublin’s dining scene, known for its commitment to quality and a welcoming atmosphere. The founders aimed to “do justice to the humble kebab,” a mission that has guided their expansion throughout the city. With three remaining branches still serving customers, Zaytoon remains hopeful for the future.
“Thank you for being part of our journey and for your continued loyalty. We look forward to seeing you soon at any of our other locations,” the post concluded, leaving the door open for continued engagement with their customer base. While the closure of the Camden Street branch is a significant loss, Zaytoon’s other locations will carry on the tradition of serving quality meals to their loyal patrons.
