Áine Keogh and Dessie Lennon Celebrate a Joyful Wedding in Cavan
Áine Keogh and Dessie Lennon exchanged vows in a heartfelt ceremony at the Church of the Holy Family in Gowna, Co Cavan, on a day filled with joy and celebration. The couple, who both hail from Ireland, described their wedding as a “chilled, relaxed, fun” occasion, perfectly capturing their vision for the event. Their reception took place at the picturesque Crover House, renowned for its scenic views and excellent service.
Fr. Michael Bannon officiated the ceremony, marking a significant moment for the couple and their families. “Our wedding day was amazing from start to finish,” Áine remarked, praising the efforts of the Crover House team. “Megan, the wedding co-ordinator, and Dee, the banqueting manager, were incredibly helpful — no task was ever too big.”
Áine and Dessie’s daughter, Croía Lennon, took centre stage as the flower girl, alongside Áine’s sister, Shona Keogh, and close friends Elaine Gaffney and Mary McLaughlin, who served as bridesmaids. Dessie was supported by his cousin, Stephen Lynch, as best man, with cousins Des Reynolds and friend John McKenna acting as groomsmen. The couple’s niece, Penny Keogh, also participated as a flower girl, while their nephews, Rowan McCann, Cooper Keogh, and Levi Keogh, fulfilled the roles of pageboys.
Áine and Dessie’s love story began online during the COVID-19 pandemic, culminating in their engagement in July 2023 during their first family holiday after the birth of Croía. The wedding featured a vibrant musical atmosphere, with two bands providing the soundtrack for the celebration. Áine highlighted the performance of Raglan, a folk/trad band from Armagh, stating, “They set the tone for the evening by playing This is the Life as our entrance song and again for our photo-dash around the room.”
The band not only entertained guests during the meal but also engaged the crowd throughout the night, creating an electric atmosphere. Áine recalled, “By the time dessert came out, the atmosphere was electric.” Following Raglan, Longtime Coming took over the entertainment duties, with Áine expressing that they successfully maintained the energy of the evening.
In a memorable moment, Áine surprised her groom and guests by performing “Beeswing.” “People were up singing and dancing with Raglan, myself included. It was funny then, mortifying now!” she added with a laugh.
Áine looked stunning in a gown designed by Eva Lendel, which she found at MK Bridal in Navan. “Mairead was amazing — so friendly and really put me at ease,” Áine said. The bridal look was completed by hairstylist Edel Hennessy and makeup artist Deirdre O’Reilly, both of whom were instrumental in calming Áine’s nerves on the wedding morning.
Dessie complemented Áine’s elegance with a suit from Spirit Clothing in Longford, where Eoghan ensured everything went smoothly throughout the day. “We are so thrilled with our photographs and video — looking at them now with Croía lets us relive the most magical day,” Áine expressed.
The floral arrangements were crafted by Áine Granard from Co Longford, while the church decorations featured artificial flowers designed by Magic Moments Weddings. Following their wedding, the couple embarked on a honeymoon cruise around the Greek islands, marking the beginning of their new life together.
Áine, a primary school teacher, and Dessie, an employee at Abbott Ireland Diagnostics in Longford, currently reside in Cavan but plan to relocate to Ballinalee. Their wedding day not only celebrated their love but also brought together family and friends in a joyous atmosphere that will be remembered for years to come.
