Barry Keoghan Dedicates Time to Train New Protection Dog Duke
Barry Keoghan is committing significant time to train his new protection dog, an Alsatian named Duke. The Irish actor, known for his role as Ringo Starr in an upcoming Beatles biopic series, has taken on this responsibility following a period of intense public scrutiny, particularly after his recent split from pop star Sabrina Carpenter.
Keoghan, 33, has shared glimpses of his training sessions with Duke on social media platforms. Videos show him engaging in play with the dog, specifically throwing a blue chew toy to help build their bond. According to a trainer from Lawless K9, the sessions have been promising. The trainer noted, “During a recent visit we got to get some great bonding in with Barry and Duke, and they got the opportunity to work together, which was really nice to see. Barry naturally picked it up fast.”
The trainer further elaborated on Duke’s development, stating, “Plenty more to come from Duke, lots of training and development. He has been nurtured and trained by us to make sure he is a well-rounded dog and his protection training is done correctly over time and not forced.” This careful approach underscores Keoghan’s commitment to ensuring that Duke is well-prepared for his protective role.
In addition to his personal life, Keoghan has been in the spotlight for his acting career. He recently starred in the thriller Saltburn and received a BAFTA for his performance in The Banshees of Inisherin. At a recent red carpet event, Keoghan showcased the signature mop-top hairstyle he has adopted for his portrayal of Ringo Starr in the Beatles series.
The ambitious project, which comprises four films highlighting each of the iconic band members, is set to be released simultaneously in 2028. Alongside Keoghan, the cast includes Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, and Joseph Quinn as George Harrison.
As Keoghan balances his burgeoning career and his new responsibility as Duke’s trainer, he continues to capture the public’s attention, both for his professional achievements and personal endeavors.
