Love Island All Stars Launch Delayed as Fires Evacuate Crew
The launch of the highly anticipated series Love Island All Stars has been postponed following the evacuation of the production crew due to devastating wildfires in South Africa. Originally set to debut on Saturday, the show’s first episode has been affected by a fire that has caused significant disruptions, including road closures near the filming location.
Production staff were forced to evacuate the villa as wildfires intensified, leading to a halt in filming. An insider shared with the Mirror that the situation has left the crew feeling unsettled, although a welfare team is on-site to provide support. “Crew are understandably worried, but the welfare team are making sure there’s support available. They’ve been told to stay in their hotels,” the source explained.
ITV confirmed the postponement, stating, “Further to a production evacuation owing to ongoing wildfires in the area, our assessment of the location site has concluded that filming will need to be postponed. Health and safety is our greatest priority and will always come first, and therefore the transmission of Love Island: All Stars will be delayed until a date to be confirmed.”
This season was set to feature familiar faces such as Jack Keating, the son of Boyzone singer Ronan Keating, as well as Millie Court, Shaq Muhammad, and Whitney Adebayo. The show was gearing up for the Islanders’ entrance into the villa, but the wildfires have put those plans on hold.
A statement from the production team noted that the launch show, hosted by Maya Jama, was originally scheduled for Monday evening on ITV2. The crew faces significant logistical challenges, especially on what is referred to as “get in” day, where precise timing is crucial to prevent the Islanders from seeing one another before their entrance.
“It’s a nightmare,” said the insider, highlighting the difficulties faced by the team. “It’s left the team scrambling to arrange alternative options on what’s the most difficult day in terms of logistics for the crew.” Despite the challenges, safety remains the primary concern, and protocols are in place for such emergencies.
As wildfires continue to affect the Western and Eastern Cape regions of South Africa, fire services reported on Friday that while some progress has been made, areas like Langrug and Franschhoek are still battling fires that remain “out of control.”
With the health and safety of both crew and cast as the main priority, the future of Love Island All Stars remains uncertain. Fans of the beloved show will have to wait longer to see their favourite contestants return, as the production team continues to navigate this challenging situation.
