NFL Player Matt Kalil Sues Ex-Wife Over Divorce Comments
An unexpected legal battle has emerged as former NFL player Matt Kalil has initiated a lawsuit against his ex-wife, Haley Kalil, following her controversial comments regarding the size of his genitalia. In a Twitch stream, Haley described this aspect of their relationship as the “biggest factor” leading to their divorce, which was finalized in 2022.
During her conversation with content creator Marlon Garcia, Haley detailed her experiences, claiming that their intimate life was significantly impacted by Kalil’s anatomy. She stated, “It was impossible to have sex with him,” and described his size as being comparable to “two Coke cans on top of each other, maybe even a third.” These remarks have drawn considerable public attention, prompting Matt to take legal action.
Details of the Lawsuit
According to a lawsuit obtained by TMZ, Matt Kalil asserts that Haley’s statements imply that the size of his genitalia was a primary reason for their separation. He contends that the comments have led to unwanted public scrutiny and invasive commentary, affecting both him and his family. The suit claims that Haley’s comments have caused him emotional distress, stating that sexual intercourse with him would leave her “in tears.”
Matt is seeking $75,000 in damages, arguing that Haley has profited from her remarks through increased viewership and engagement on social media platforms. The lawsuit emphasizes the personal nature of the statements, asserting that they are degrading and detrimental to his reputation.
In response to the lawsuit, Haley expressed her shock and hurt, stating, “I am genuinely shocked and incredibly hurt upon receiving the news of this filing. Litigation is a harrowing and emotionally draining experience, and I am heartbroken that he is choosing to subject us and our families to this ordeal.”
Background on the Couple
Matt Kalil, a former offensive tackle for the Minnesota Vikings and the Carolina Panthers, played four seasons with the Vikings before transferring to the Panthers, where he spent an additional season before his release in 2019. He has since remarried.
Haley Kalil, known for her previous career as a beauty pageant contestant, gained further recognition by appearing in Sports Illustrated‘s Swimsuit Issue. Recently, she was featured on TIME Magazine‘s TIME100 Creator’s List, highlighting her as one of the most influential digital creators.
This lawsuit underscores the complexities of personal relationships in the public eye and raises questions about the impact of social media on private lives. As the case develops, it remains to be seen how the courts will address the intersection of personal dignity and public commentary.
