Olympic rower Philip Doyle narrowly missed advancing to the semi-finals of this year’s season of *Dancing with the Stars*. Doyle impressed the judges with a score of 31 for his energetic jive to Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now.” Judge Arthur Gourounlian praised his performance, highlighting the “free movement” and “speed, stamina, and precision” he displayed. Upon his exit, Doyle expressed his enjoyment of the competition, giving special thanks to the show’s team, particularly the costume department, humorously noting that his tall frame made finding suitable trousers a challenge.

In a dance-off against singer-songwriter Tolü Makay, who had earlier garnered a standing ovation for her Charleston to Raye’s “Where is My Husband!”, Doyle’s efforts fell short. Makay achieved a perfect score of 40 for her routine, with judge Karen Byrne declaring, “You made that dance your own. It’s all sass and fun—this is the dance you bring to the quarter-final.”

Celebrated Performances Light Up the Stage

*Dancing with the Stars* also showcased the talents of Paudie Moloney, known for his role in *The Traitors*. Moloney delivered a heartfelt Viennese waltz to John Denver’s “Annie’s Song,” a piece that holds special significance for him and his wife, Bernadette. Byrne noted that his performance gave her “chills,” describing it as “beautiful.”

Judge Brian Redmond commended Moloney’s ability to fill the room with movement, awarding him a score of 24, his highest for an individual dance to date. In contrast, Jordan Dargan, known for his participation in *The Apprentice UK*, aimed to break a streak of two consecutive dance-offs with his tango to Harry Styles’ “As It Was.” Gourounlian encouraged Dargan, stating, “You belong in this competition. You came out fighting tonight.” Dargan received a score of 37, bolstered by two perfect tens from judges.

Dancing alongside these competitors, Eric Roberts, a presenter on Ireland AM, showcased a contemporary ballroom routine that was described as “intentional and elevated.” His performance netted him a score of 37, including a ten from Byrne. Meanwhile, Katelyn Cummins, the Rose of Tralee, impressed with a salsa to the traditional Latin number “Ran Kan Kan,” scoring 35. Judge Mabuse noted the challenges of her routine, commenting, “It felt sassy, fun, cheeky.”

Dance Marathon Adds Extra Challenge

The night culminated in the annual dance marathon, where couples faced the pressure of elimination one by one. The first to depart were Moloney, Makay, Cummins, and Doyle, with Dargan narrowly avoiding elimination. Ultimately, Roberts emerged as the winner of the marathon, securing valuable points for the upcoming semi-finals.

With the competition heating up as the semi-finals approach, the remaining five celebrities are set to showcase their skills in what promises to be an exciting conclusion to the season.
