TEMU and SHEIN Recall Hazardous Products for Children’s Safety
Online platforms TEMU and SHEIN have initiated recalls for several products in the Republic of Ireland due to significant health risks posed to children. The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has issued an alert, advising consumers to cease use of these items immediately and to keep them away from children.
Details of the Product Recalls
Among the recalled items is a Cat Paw Squishy toy, sold by KRAIDAY on the TEMU platform. This product has been flagged for containing restricted levels of phthalates, which can adversely affect children’s reproductive health. The model number for this toy is JY100, with a bar code of 7144531495 and a batch number of 24100112. Approximately 103 units are affected by this recall in Ireland.
Another item at risk is the Musical Rattle Toy, available on the TEMU platform from a seller known as Musical Dreamer. This toy poses a choking hazard due to small parts that could detach. The model is identified as W0007 in green, with a batch number of 20240330. The recall affects about 74 units in the Republic of Ireland.
A Plush Toy White Duck, sold by Claires on TEMU, has also been recalled due to the potential for choking. Small components may detach, presenting a risk for ingestion. The bar code for this toy is 3132347210, with a batch number of 2024/04/20. Approximately 6 units are involved in this recall.
Risks Associated with the Products
In addition to these toys, SHEIN is recalling a Mermaid Dress sold by the third-party seller Shenzhen Yiyuanda Trading Co.; Ltd. This costume presents a fire risk, as it may ignite near a heat source, leading to potential burns. The bar code for this item is PB2506250174013, and it includes multiple batch numbers: 20250615, 20250529001, and 2454164. An estimated 68 units are subject to this recall in Ireland.
Consumers who have purchased any of these products should stop using them immediately and dispose of them properly. TEMU will also notify affected customers and assist them with the return or refund process.
