Limerick’s Paudie Moloney Celebrates DWTS Journey in Grand Finale
Limerick’s Paudie Moloney expressed his joy and gratitude following his participation in the grand finale of *Dancing with the Stars*. The 2026 season concluded with Paudie and his professional partner, Laura Nolan, achieving their highest score of the series during their Showdance performance. The couple impressed judges and audiences alike with a routine set to “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” by Andy Williams, earning a total score of 29 out of 40.
In addition to their Showdance, Paudie and Laura revisited their Quickstep from Week 4, receiving a score of 28 out of 40. Overall, their combined score of 57 points highlighted their growth and dedication throughout the competition.
Reflecting on an Unforgettable Journey
After the finale, Paudie shared his feelings about the experience, stating, “This has been an epic journey, an absolute experience of a lifetime!” He indicated that despite facing some critical feedback from judges earlier in the season, he aimed to showcase his dancing abilities and prove his place in the finale. “To be here for the final, it’s beyond my wildest dreams,” he added.
The support from fans has been overwhelming, according to Paudie. He noted, “The goodwill that has been coming at me since I took on this show… it’s been phenomenal.” This connection with supporters was evident when he visited Coláiste Iósaef in Kilmallock the week before the finale, where many fans came out to cheer him on.
Judge Brian Redmond praised Paudie’s journey, stating, “You might not be the best dancer on this show, but we know, and you’ve proved that this show is about so much more than just dancing.” Redmond acknowledged Paudie’s consistent effort and enjoyment throughout the competition. Fellow judge Arthur Gourounlian remarked, “You are the definition of age is just a number. You keep going. You keep dancing. You keep entertaining.”
A Family Legacy and Community Support
Paudie’s proudest achievements extend beyond the dance floor. He highlighted the importance of his family, including his wife Bernadette and their four children—Edwina, Antoinette, Aoife, and Andrew—along with ten grandchildren. His family actively supported him during his performances, with five grandchildren present in the studio audience.
At 2026’s conclusion, Katelyn Cummins was crowned the winner of *Dancing with the Stars*, but Paudie’s legacy as the oldest competitor remains a significant part of this season’s narrative. Previously a prison officer for over 28 years, he has demonstrated that passion and perseverance can defy age barriers.
His grandson, Shane O’Brien, a notable hurler, also contributed to the family’s connection to the show. As Paudie dedicated his performances to his grandchildren, the intergenerational support became a heartfelt theme throughout his journey.
Paudie’s experience on *Dancing with the Stars* serves as a reminder of the power of community, resilience, and the joy of pursuing one’s passions at any age.
