Nominations Open for 2026 EY Entrepreneur Of The Year Programme

EY has officially launched nominations for the 2026 Entrepreneur Of The YearTM (EOY) programme, celebrating innovative and ambitious business leaders across Ireland and Northern Ireland. This initiative, which has been running for 29 years, aims to recognize exceptional entrepreneurs from various industries, contributing significantly to the economy.

The EOY alumni community has expanded to include 680 of the most talented business minds on the island, collectively employing around 275,000 people and generating an impressive €28 billion in annual revenue. This programme not only highlights individual achievements but also underscores the vital role that entrepreneurs play in shaping the future of the region.

Celebrating Entrepreneurial Spirit

At the programme’s launch, Roger Wallace, Head of Assurance and EY Entrepreneur Of The YearTM Ireland, emphasized the importance of entrepreneurs as the “driving force of Ireland’s economy.” He remarked, “They combine vision with courage, creativity with determination, and in doing so they push our island forward in ways that few other groups can.”

Wallace noted that in today’s rapidly changing environment, these leaders remain steadfast innovators, turning bold ideas into tangible impact. “As a country, we rely on their ambition, and it is more important than ever that we champion, support, and celebrate the entrepreneurs shaping tomorrow,” he added. The programme serves as an annual celebration of the entrepreneurial spirit that is fundamental to Ireland’s economic future.

The EY Entrepreneur Of The YearTM programme is open to all business leaders who are either Irish or operating a business in Ireland, regardless of their sector. This year, participants can enter one of three categories: Emerging, Established, or International, with eight finalists selected from each category. A total of 24 finalists will subsequently engage in a comprehensive nine-month growth programme that includes executive education, networking opportunities, tailored media profiling, and participation in the annual CEO Retreat in Toronto.

Recognizing Excellence

Judges will focus on identifying finalists who not only demonstrate creativity in their work but also lead businesses that have a lasting impact on their communities. Harry Hughes, CEO of Portwest and Chairperson of the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year JudgingTM Panel, expressed his admiration for the calibre of entrepreneurs participating in the programme. He stated, “They challenge convention, find opportunity where others see uncertainty, and build businesses that leave a lasting imprint on their industries and communities.”

The theme for this year, “The Entrepreneurs,” reflects the individuality and creative drive that characterizes these leaders. Hughes also mentioned the privilege judges have in meeting entrepreneurs whose ideas and resilience are actively shaping Ireland’s future and beyond. “Their impact reaches far beyond their own companies, and it is an honour to help recognize and celebrate their achievements,” he added.

Nominations for the 2026 EY Entrepreneur Of The YearTM programme are now open and will close on February 17, 2026. This initiative promises to shine a spotlight on those who are not just building businesses but also contributing to the broader economic landscape.
