Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang Named Financial Times’ 2025 Person of the Year
Jensen Huang, the CEO of Nvidia, has been named the 2025 Person of the Year by the Financial Times. This recognition highlights the increasing influence of leaders in the artificial intelligence (AI) sector, reflecting Huang’s pivotal role in what the publication describes as “the AI mania that is sweeping through the business and financial worlds.” Under his leadership, Nvidia has ascended to become the most valuable public company globally, making history as the first to exceed the $4 trillion (approximately €3.4 trillion) market capitalization barrier.
Nvidia’s ultra-powerful AI chips have become essential in the global competition for AI supremacy, driving massive investments in new technology infrastructure. This accolade comes shortly after TIME Magazine recognized the “Architects of AI” as their Person of the Year, including notable figures like Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, and Elon Musk, CEO of xAI, both of whom, alongside Huang, are shaping the future of AI.
From Taiwan to Tech Titan
Born in Taiwan, Huang relocated to the United States with his family during his childhood, eventually settling in California after completing his studies at Stanford University. At the age of 30, he co-founded Nvidia with two friends, aspiring to create a graphics processing unit (GPU) that would transform computer graphics, particularly for video games.
Huang navigated various challenges throughout Nvidia’s journey, often making strategic, albeit risky, decisions. He foresaw that traditional chip designs would struggle to meet the escalating demands of microprocessors. His belief in the potential of Nvidia’s gaming chips ultimately proved prescient, as they have become the leading hardware for training advanced AI systems, including those powering popular technologies like ChatGPT and various image generators.
Major corporations such as Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI now rely on Nvidia’s computer chips for their AI models. Huang has referred to Nvidia as “one of the most consequential technology companies in history,” emphasizing the transformative impact of their innovations. “The computer technique that took us 30 years to invent is now fundamentally changing all of computing,” he stated.
As the world increasingly recognizes the significance of AI, Huang’s vision and leadership at Nvidia will likely continue to influence the trajectory of technology and business in the coming years.
